This a selection of Italian bayonets that show unusual production differences.  The examples from the photos are my own, but the information shared is from Rudy D'Angelo, Ron Azzi and Dick Hobbs.  AMICI magazine and Mr. Hobb's groundbreaking book, in English, on the Carcano were referenced.

...from right to left...."latch lock bayonet" which was the first production folding bayonet along with the new M38 rifles that were released.  Second from right is the second model folder with a "push button" release instead of the earlier latch release.  Third from right is the "former folder" made into a non-folding bayonet/dagger.  The gap in the handle(for folding the bayonet) is still evident, but no longer of use.  The last variation is a new made bayonet/dagger that did not have an earlier history of being a folding bayonet, but was made as only a non'folding bayonet.
...from right to left are the ..."latch lock folder", "button folder", "former folder made into a non-folder" and the new made "non-folding" boyonet/dagger.  Notice "fascist loop" for the belt.  These bayonets were popular with the Italians as daggers/fighting knives.  There are numerous period photos of these being used to salute with.
