Italian/ Japanese Type I Rifle. These rifles were made, by Italy, for the Japanese Navy during WWII. According to Dick Hobb's "Carcano Rifle" book it appears that roughly 60,000 were made and delivered during 1938 and 1939. There are others that believe there were more made due to the known serial number ranges. This is still up in the air at this time. It is chambered for the Japanese 6.5 bullet/round. These rifles are interesting as they will have the Japanese type two piece stock. The seam line can be seen on the buttstock. |

Two piece stock seen on most Japanese rifles. It is said there are two differing lengths on these Type I rifles. This information is credible. |

Many of these rifles will not have the cleaning rod. The correct cleaning rod can be hard for collectors to find. |
